Principle of operation
The Woodwork for Inventor CAM solver has been improved so that when creating machining technologies, a temporary part body (Transient CAM body) is generated, which reflects the actual dimensions of the Part or Workpiece (depending on the selected settings). This body also accounts for Cover positions – recessed or applied – as well as allowances and other dimensional changes that may occur during the manufacturing process. Such a model allows more accurate planning of machining strategies, tool paths, and evaluation of how the Workpiece changes during different operations. The use of a Transient CAM body reduces the likelihood of errors and ensures that the manufactured part meets design requirements.
Transient CAM body generation
Users do not need to perform any actions, as by default the settings specify that CAM bodies are created automatically. However, if desired, users can change these settings and return to the previous method, where geometry was calculated using standard calculations.
Such situations may occur when part geometry is extremely complex and technology generation may take an excessively long time. Typical examples include engraved or carved Parts.
This body is generated temporarily, only while the CAM environment is active. After exiting, the processing body is deleted and is not used further.
Operations with CAM body
The Transient CAM body is generated when a part setup is created and for the Clamping that is active at that moment. It appears in the side tree when Modeling mode is enabled and the CAM environment is active.
If desired, users can save these bodies for further analysis or use, but they will be converted into a Surface body.
Steps to create such a body:
▪Expand the relevant CAM body in the tree.
▪Select the CAM body.
▪Right-click on the CAM Body and select Create Machining Body.
▪A Machining body will appear in the tree.
