Autodesk Inventor has the ability to apply a material to a part. Material property is used in visualization, mass property calculation and Bill of Material generation. However the feature is difficult to use in the furniture design process. The problem arises due the fact that furniture part is a composite part. For example, a typical cabinetry part can consist of a laminated chipboard and edge banding material. In fact this is an assembly. The components can be modeled as stand alone parts and presented as the assembly of several parts, but such design makes this process unreasonably long. That's why Woodwork4Inventor provides its own way to manipulate materials.
